7 Fun and Creative Easter Egg Hunt Ideas for Kids
I enjoy celebrating Easter mainly because it brings back so many cherished memories from my childhood. For me, the holiday is all about gathering with loved ones and creating special moments together, rather than observing it from a strong religious perspective. Easter Sunday was always a special occasion in my family when I was growing up, and it still surprises me that it’s not the same for everyone. Funny enough, the Easter Bunny was the only childhood character that truly terrified me! The idea of waking up in the middle of the night on Easter Eve and running into a human-sized rabbit lurking around the house was the stuff of nightmares. I remember when I first started dating my husband, Joel, and he told me he had plans with his friends on Easter Sunday. I was so surprised because, for me, Easter was always a day spent with family, but to him, it was just like any other weekend.
Today for us, Easter is all about the egg hunt, spending time together, and enjoying a nice lunch. There are always Easter and spring events to attend, and we love baking hot cross buns and painting eggshells for the "Easter Bunny" to fill with treats. On Saturday night, I prepare for the egg hunt by filling the eggs and setting up the trail using cut-out bunny paw prints and arrows to guide Cora on her bunny treats quest.
Yes, Easter and chocolate go hand in hand, but I like to include other fun treats in Cora’s Easter basket so that chocolate isn’t the main event. Here are some of the things I add to her Easter basket:
Small milk chocolate eggs
Hard-boiled eggs
Popcorn
Raisins
Carrots
Apples
A new toothbrush
I also created a free printable to help you set up a fun and easy Easter Egg Hunt trail! This printable includes bunny paw prints, a bunny ear headpiece, arrows to direct the trail, and mini bunny ears for decorating boiled eggs or crafting. Simply cut out the pieces and create a magical path for your little ones to follow as they search for their basket of treats.
I hope this helps make your Easter just as special as mine was growing up!
